Bayt News Agency) - Six new major defense achievements were unveiled on
the occasion of the national Defense Industry Day in the Islamic
Republic of Iran.
The achievements, were unveiled during a
ceremony in the presence of Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,
included an enhanced version of fourth generation Fateh (Victory) 1D-110
missile, Armita flying laboratory, Bonyan (Foundation) 4 marine engine,
Aras tactical vehicle, Vafa (Loyalty) mortar launcher as well as Shahed
tapping and positioning system.
Iran's Defense Minister
Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi and Minister of Communications and
Information Technology Reza Taqipour were also present at the ceremony
held on Tuesday.
Referring to the Fateh 1D-110 missile, the
Iranian defense minister said that, "This missile is one of the most
precise and advanced ground-to-ground ballistic missiles with solid fuel
and has played an influential role in enhancing the defensive prowess
of the Islamic Republic over the past decade."
Iran successfully test-fired the fourth generation of its indigenous Fateh 110 precision missile on August 4.
President
Ahmadinejad is also scheduled to visit an exhibition of the latest
achievements of the Defense Ministry and its related organizations,
including the Iranian Aerospace Organization (IAO), Defense Industry
Organization, Iran Electronics Industries, and Armed Forces Geographical
Organization.
On a related note, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps
(IRGC) stressed that Iran's defense industries have played a key role
in the development of the country, and lauded Tehran's eye-catching
achievements in defense industries despites the western sanctions and
restrictions.
The IRGC reiterated the role of defense sciences and
industries in the process of the country's development and elevation,
and highlighted the immense and eye-catching advancements achieved by
the technicians in defense industry field, particularly under the
imposed threats and sanctions.
"Despite the full scale enmity of
the oppression front and the global oppression system against the
Iranian nation and the chain of sanctions during the past 33 years
(since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979), the field of
defense industries has taken advantage of the existing potentials and
cradles, as well as the capabilities of its own creative forces,
providing the basic requirements and defense needs of the country," the
IRGC statement said.
"The defense industry has in this period
meanwhile set the foundations of a strong and mighty structure in this
field, challenging the oppressor powers that are armed with superior
advanced technologies and pushed them towards a pacifist stand," the
statement added.
In recent years, Iran has made great
achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in
producing essential military equipment and systems.
Iran has
repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that
its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that
its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.

(fourth generation of fateh) is more accurate, has all weather
capability, increased lifetime, decrease in the time of the tests before
and during the launch, decrease in the time needed to leave the area
after the launch and enlimination of the need to check the missiles in
short periods.
Bonyan-4 diesel maritime engine: is a 16 cylinder,
5000 hp, 18 tonnes diesel engine intended for large ships. (sidenote:
four of these can be used on mowj frigates. maybe velayat is using this
engine?)
Armita Aerospace Laboratory: to test the aircraft
"launch" systems, oxygen generator of the aircraft, modern avionic
tests, and teaching the modern avionics to the pilots. (?)
Aras Tactical Vehicle: is a cross country 3.4 tonnes tactical vehicle with a 133 hp engine.
Vafa
Mortar: is a 160 mm, extremely long range mortar with the fire rate of
5-8 rpm, 2-3 times more explosives in the rounds compared to older
mortars and more round lifetime compared to rockets.
