daily mail

Komisi I baru tahu setelah muncul dalam pemberitaan.
Purnomo mengatakan, pihaknya memang ingin membeli helikopter serang.
Edhie menambahkan, Apache menjadi prioritas pertama pihaknya. Namun, harga yang ditawarkan berubah-ubah dari sebesar Rp 25 juta dollar AS per unit, lalu Rp 30 juta dollar AS per unit.
Belakangan, tambah Edhie, harga Apache kembali naik. Dia tak menyebut berapa harga terakhir. Akhirnya, pihaknya mencari helikoper pembanding, yakni Super Kobra. Informasi yang diterima, kata dia, harga yang ditawarkan yakni 15 juta dollar AS per unit.
Edhie mengatakan, helikopter Black Hawk menjadi pilihan terakhir.

Iran Increases Armed Forces' Mobility with New Military Vehicles

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran on Monday unveiled a light armored vehicle and an armored personnel carrier as part of its broader plan for increasing mobility of its armed forces.

The light armored vehicle, Howeize, and Talaeiyeh armored infantry carrier were officially unveiled in a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.

Speaking to reporters, Vahidi said that the newly unveiled vehicles produced by the Defense Industries Organization were a "great step" in increasing mobility and operational movement of the armed forces.

As regards the features of Howeize armored vehicle, Vahidi said that in addition to different military missions, the vehicle can be used at border posts and in anti-narcotic operations.

On Friday, the Iranian Armed Forces displayed the country's latest home-made military tools, weapons and equipments in large military parades in Tehran.

During the parades, the Iranian armed forces displayed different weapons and military tools and equipment, including different kinds of fighters, choppers, drones, ground-to-ground missiles, air-to-ground missiles, surface-to-surface missiles, tactical and armed vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electronic and telecommunication equipment, light and mid-light weapons, different kinds of artillery and mortar-launchers, air defense systems and engineering and logistic equipment.

The Iranian Armed Forces have recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of home-made weapons, tools and equipments during massive military drills.

Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US

Yemen to Get UAVs From the US

Amid a series of controversial U.S. air strikes against high-level Al-Qaeda officials in the Arabian Peninsula, and renewed military cooperation with Yemen, officials in Sanaa are now expecting to get a supply of weaponry from the Pentagon, including four of their own UAVs.
An anonymous Yemeni defense official, who was not authorized to speak with the press, tells Aviation Week that Yemen is receiving four AeroVironment RQ-11 Raven UAVs. The 1.9-kg Raven is equipped with sensors for target acquisition, and infrared cameras capable of displaying persons carrying weapons.
“This type of technology would be very appropriate for Yemen’s frontline military units because it provides real-time intelligence from the battlefield to launch strikes while minimizing troops’ exposure to surprise attacks,” according to Aysh Awas, director of security and strategic studies at Sheba, a think tank here in the Yemeni capital.
The equipment marks a significant change in U.S. military cooperation with Yemen, which was suspended until earlier this year. Moreover, the U.S. Defense Department traditionally has kept a close hold on any UAV technologies, exporting them almost exclusively to close Western allies.
Last year, the U.S. provided 85 Ravens to Islamabad, Pakistan, another critical — albeit questionable — ally in the ongoing war against Al-Qaeda. Like Pakistan, however, many questions remain over the future of U.S.-Yemeni relations following the country’s tumultuous Arab Spring-inspired uprisings last year, which unseated 33-year President Ali Abdullah Saleh and transferred power to his deputy, Major Field Marshall Abd Rabu Mansur Hadi.
Victories aside, Awas claims Yemen’s elite, U.S.-funded and trained Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) lacks vital support from the Yemeni air force (YAF). “Put simply, the fight against Al Qaeda in Yemen is a guerrilla war, and winning such wars requires special weapons and military equipment, including helicopters and transport aircrafts,” he says.
“Yemen’s air force does not have these weapons in required numbers to meet the needs of its 120 CTU operatives,” he adds. Indeed, YAF’s Cold War-era fleet comprises around 375 aircraft, of which only about 60% are operational due to years of neglect and mismanagement, according to a 2011 study by the Abaad Strategic Studies and Research Center here.
However, Washington has been attempting to develop air support for the CTU since 2006 under so-called Section 1206 authority, named after that part of the 2006 defense authorization act which allows training and equipping of foreign militaries for counterterrorism operations.
The Pentagon so far has spent more than $300 million of these funds on the YAF, CTU and Yemeni Special Operations Forces, making the impoverished country the largest overall recipient of Section 1206 funding to date.
A major spike in Section 1206 spending came in fiscal 2010 in reaction to the failed 2009 Christmas Day bombing of a Detroit-bound airliner. The bulk of the funds went to purchase four Huey II (UH-1H) helicopters and a CN-235-300M medium-range twin-turboprop transport aircraft.
Delivery was halted in early 2011, however, as the peaceful, youth-led uprisings of the Yemeni Arab Spring quickly devolved into a violent battle and forced the U.S. military to suspend its cooperation and evacuate personnel from the country.
Recent stability, however, has allowed Washington to ease some restrictions. “Given the election of a new president and Yemen’s critical security needs, earlier this year we gradually resumed our suspended security assistance for components of the Yemeni military that are engaged in the fight against Al-Qaeda,” says Navy Cmdr. Bill Speaks, a Pentagon representative.
In July, the U.S. secretaries of State and Defense approved $23.4 million to enhance the YAF’s fixed-wing capability to conduct counterterrorism operations by providing training and equipment, including two short-takeoff-and-landing aircraft and support to CASA CN-235 cargo/transport aircraft, he says

Commander: Sahand Destroyer "More Advanced than Jamaran"

TEHRAN (FNA)- The newly home-made radar-evading destroyer is more advanced and more powerful than the first Iranian made destroyer, Jamaran which was launched in 2010, a senior Army commander announced on Wednesday.

Iran on Tuesday launched the Sahand missile destroyer at the order of the Commander in Chief, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Sahand (IRI Sahand) missile destroyer was officially launched by the Iranian Navy in Iran's Southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

Speaking to FNA on Wednesday, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Navy for Operations Admiral Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi pointed to Sahand's features, and stated, "The destroyer is more advanced than Jamaran. Its main structure has been launched and other parts and equipments will be installed according to our timeline."

Mousavi stated that Sahand is a multi-purpose vessel and will have the capability to confront surface, subsurface and aerial threats.

In June 2012, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the country plans to build new vessels and submarines in a bid to further boost its naval capabilities.

"New surface and subsurface vessels will join the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy fleet in the near future," Sayyari told FNA at the time, adding that the Navy is due to build new vessels.

Speaking to FNA in June, Lieutenant Commander of the Navy for Technical Affairs Rear Admiral Abbas Zamini reminded that the designing and building of Jamaran destroyer, a Mowdge 1 Class vessel, showed Iran's high technical know-how and capabilities in manufacturing battleships, and added that the country is already manufacturing a second generation of the hi-tech vessel.

The construction phase of Velayat destroyer, a Mowdge 2 Class vessel, is 70% through, he said, and added that the vessel is under construction in Iran's Northern port city of Bandar Anzali.

The admiral declared that Velayat will be launched this Iranian year (ends on March 2013).

"In addition" the commander stated "construction of other Mowdge and Sina-class destroyers are underway including Mowdge 3 and 4 projects."

He further announced that construction of a Mowdge 5 class destroyer, named Sahand, will end in the near future, and the Navy vessel will be launched this year.

The Admiral noted the manufacture of Sina-class missile-launching frigates, and said that construction of three classes of this Navy vessel is on Iran's agenda.

He also mentioned that the Iranian defense ministry and the Navy are working on four projects to build four different classes of warships, and said the four projects are called Sina 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Iran's first home-made destroyer, Jamaran, was launched in late February 2010. The Mowdge Class vessel has a displacement of around 14,000 tons and is equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities and is armed with a variety of anti-ship, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles.

Jamaran is also equipped with different kinds of weapons, including a powerful and smart missile named 'Nour' (light).

Chinese Aircraft Carrier Liaoning is Bigger, More Powerful and Cheaper than India's INS Vikramaditya

China has inducted its first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, on Tuesday
As delays keep cropping up in the refitting of India’s aircraft carrier, the INS Vikramaditya “gifted” by Russia, the Chinese Navy has received its first aircraft carrier, the Russian origin Liaoning which has nearly twice the aircraft and helicopter capacity of the Indian carrier.

The Liaoning is designed to carry 30 fixed wing aircraft and 24 helicopter while the Vikramaditya can carry just 16 MiG-29K aircraft and 10 helicopters.

The Chinese Navy took delivery of the refurbished ship yesterday.

The Ukrainian carrier was purchased for $20 million in 1998 by a Hong Kong-based company called Chong Lot Travel Agency Ltd. The carrier was originally intended to be a casino until Chang Lot failed to acquire a license to run an offshore casino.

In 2005, she was moved to a dry dock in China to be rebuilt. Chong Lot spent an additional $65 million transporting the ship to China. It is not known on what terms the Chinese Navy acquired the carrier from the Chang Lot gambling company and how much it spent on refitting it.

In contrast, India acquired the Admiral Gorshkov (rechristened INS Vikramaditya) carrier for free as a “goodwill gesture” from Russia in 2008 but spent over $1 billion in a refurbishing contract given to the Russian shipyard. Negotiations to acquire the carrier had begun 5-7 years ago. China however, chose to rely on its own industries to rebuild the ship formerly known as the Varyag. China has been able to maintain complete secrecy about the indigenous equipment and systems it has installed in the carrier.

The only information in the public domain is that the Chinese carrier has been equipped with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) and Sea Eagle radars and weapons such as the Type 1030 CIWS main gun, and the FL-3000N missile system.

The old anti-ship missile tubes have been plugged and are not expected to be used in an effort to free up internal space for storage.

However, it is not yet known if China has put together a fleet of aircraft and pilots for carrier operations. According to China's Rear Admiral Yang Yi quoted in the Chinese media, the carrier will be used "for scientific research and training missions" in an effort to build "a more advanced aircraft carrier platform in the future".

In anticipation of the Vikramaditya it has begun inducting MiG-29K naval fighter jets that will operate in STOBAR (short take-off but assisted recovery via arresting wires) mode. While the aircraft and helicopters are ready, the final deliver date of the carrier keeps getting postponed due to technical difficulties.

The Vikramaditya is being fitted with a Global Marine communications system, Sperry Bridgemaster navigation radar, the P-500 Bazalt cruise missile launchers and four Antey Kinzhal surface-to-air missile launchers.

Although India was scheduled to take delivery of the carrier later this year, reports suggest that it will be another five-six months before its ready to be inducted.

Everyone In The Gulf Was Shocked To See This Iraqi Patrol Boat

I've been in the Persian Gulf covering the huge international mine clearing exercise less than 300 miles from the Strait of Hormuz, and Saturday the Navy dropped the media back off in Bahrain.
That means you'll be seeing a lot of coverage on CNNABCBBC, and Al Jazeera popping up over the next few days about some of the things that went on out here. The big news organizations all filmed the press conferences, including the one we received Friday morning after we boarded the USS Ponce. The Ponce is the lead ship in the multinational exercise, and the first floating base in the U.S. Navy.
We were surprised at that briefing when we were shown a list of countries participating in the exercise that we'd not seen before. Unfortunately, our shock must have given us away because a senior public affairs officer, a Navy Captain, promptly asked us not to report any of the names we'd seen that hadn't been released to the public.
We all agreed, but Saturday aboard the Ponce one of the countries ship's came close enough for me to snap this picture with a telephoto lens. It's the Iraqi patrol boat P-307 sailing alongside the U.S. guided missile destroyer USS Gridley.
The P-307 was delivered to Iraq in March 2012, carries a 30mm cannon and is manned by crew of 25 sailors. I talked to a Navy officer who told me if I was able to see it, I could go ahead and report it.
The P-307 wasn't there long, and right after I snapped the first couple of shots it took a hard left away from the far side of the Gridley, and disappeared into the distance.

ITS SIAP BANTU UJI SYSTEM DAN PROSEDUR TRIMARAN PROJECT LANJUTAN

Pandangan senada diungkapkan Ketua Pusat Studi Kelautan ITS Aries Sulisetyono ST MA Sc PhD.

KRI DEWARUCI MEMASUKI PERAIRAN INDONESIA

Sembilan bulan lalu, kapal layar tiang tinggi buatan galangan kapal Stulcken & Sohns, Hamburg, Jerman Barat, 1953, itu meninggalkan dermaga Komando Armada Indonesia Kawasan Timur TNI AL.

PENGAMANAN PERBATASAN BERTAMBAH TIGA TITIK
